The Dalmore 12 year old
Distillery: Dalmore
Distillery Owner: Whyte and Mackay
Country: Scotland
Region: Highland
ABV: 40%
Tasting Notes:
Colour: very dark. I thought it was due to the Oloroso Sherry cask but after further reading I found out Dalmore uses caramel colouring.
Nose: mellow, citrus, orange and hints of chocolate.
Taste: well rounded and balanced, sherry, orange, chocolate and vanilla flavours.
Body: very approachable with 40% ABV. A little creamy and coats the mouth well.
Finish: medium mellow finish with hints of chocolate lingering.
Overall: This is a decent day to day single malt. The hint of chocolate and orange in the nose and palate is very pleasant. Great breakfast scotch - yes you can drink scotch any time of day - and it is very approachable.
